  Manabu Umeda is a Project Researcher at Mobility Innovation Collaborative Research Organization, the University of Tokyo (UTmobI). He joined the University of Tokyo on November 2019. He was appointed Collaborative research coordinator in SIP-adus steering committee in 2020. He started his professional career as an automotive safety engineer in Nissan Motor Corporation in 1999, and worked for Nissan Motor Manufacturing (UK) Ltd. in 2006-2009.

  Jane Lappin

  Jane Lappin chairs the National Academies of Engineering Transportation Research Board Vehicle-Highway Automation Committee and is co-founder of the annual Automated Road Transportation Symposium. She is recently retired as Director of Public Policy and Government Affairs for Toyota Research Institute where she monitored global regulatory affairs related to highly automated vehicles.
  Previously, Ms. Lappin worked for USDOT Volpe Center, where she managed projects assessing public response to advanced vehicle technologies and the impact of those technologies on driver behaviour. Ms. Lappin served as USDOT secretariat to the trilateral US-EU-JPN international research collaboration on intelligent transportation, and as the US co-chair of the US-EU-Japan Automation in Road Transportation Working Group. Before discovering her true calling in transportation, Jane worked for Abt Associates in their business strategy group, for the Canadian International Development Agency evaluating women’s economic development programs in Bangladesh, and co-directing a public health survey in Haiti. She studied sociology as an undergraduate at Boston University and earned an MBA from the Simmons College Graduate School of Management, the world’s only all women’s business school. Ms. Lappin is currently consulting on automated vehicles safety, operations, and policy issues.

  Andrea De Candido

  Since April 2022, Mr. Andrea DE CANDIDO is responsible for the Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility dossier in the frame of the Future Urban and Mobility Systems Unit of the Directorate General for Research & Innovation of the European Commission.
  Mr. De Candido first joined the Commission in 2013 in the Research Infrastructure Unit. In 2017 he moved to DG HOME where he became responsible for the Unit dealing with Research and Innovation in the civil security dimension.
  Before joining the EU Institutions Mr. De Candido had a 25 year long career in the Italian Army where he retired from in 2013 with the rank of Lt. Colonel.

  Dr. Keqiang Li, the Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, currently is the professor at School of Vehicle and Mobility, Tsinghua University, and also the director of State Key Laboratory of Automotive Safety and Energy, the CTO of National Innovation Center of Intelligent and Connected Vehicles, the director of the Center for Intelligent Connected Vehicles and Transportation, Tsinghua University, and the director of Committee of Experts of China Industry Innovation Alliance for the Intelligent and Connected Vehicles.
  
  He worked in Japanese and Germany automotive companies and academic institutions for many years including Visiting Professor at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology and the University of Tokyo, Aachen University of technology (Germany), Research Fellow at National Traffic Safety & Environment Lab. (Japan) and Technical Center of Automotive Body, Isuzu Automobile Corp.
  (Japan).
  
  Dr. Li is an expert in the field of automotive intelligence. His main research areas include the theoretical research and engineering application of the dynamic design and control of intelligent vehicle driving system.

  Aria Etemad

  Aria Etemad is Senior Project Manager at Volkswagen Group Innovation in the area of Intelligent Ride and Automated Driving.
  Since 2008 he has been Coordinator of several European flagship projects in the field – for instance euroFOT, the first European large-scale field operational test for studying the benefit of ADAS on traffic safety and efficiency; and L3Pilot, a large-scale European pilot for bringing SAE level 3 automated vehicles to European roads.
  He currently leads Hi-Drive – another flagship project for making Automated Driving more robust and reliable.

  Stephane Dreher

  Dr. Stephane Dreher is Senior Manager Innovation & Deployment in the fields of CCAM and Blockchain at ERTICO – ITS Europe.
  He is coordinating the EC-funded ARCADE Support Action aimed at accelerating the harmonized deployment of automated road transport in Europe and contributing to the Trilateral EU-US-Japan ART cooperation. He is a member of the Executive Group of the CCAM Partnership under Horizon Europe, leading the Cluster on coordination. From 2015 to 2017, he was a Transport Data and Statistics Expert with the United Nations Development Program in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He advised the Saudi Ministry of Transport on technical and policy matters regarding Transport Data, Analytics, Big Data and ITS. Prior to that, he worked 10 years at HERE where he was in charge of EU Government Programmes.

  Beate Müller

  Dr. Beate Müller representing German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, is the Head of Sustainability and Renewable Energy Section in the Mobility, Energy and Future Technologies Department at VDI/VDE-IT, a programme management agency for the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
  She earned her Ph.D. in Physics from the Humboldt University Berlin and was a postdoctoral fellow at the Chiba University, Graduate School of Advanced Integration Science in Chiba, Japan afterwards. At VDI/VDE-IT her focus lies on sustainable user-centric and cross-modal transport from technological and systemic perspective and on the integration of transport and renewable energy systems. Dr. Müller is strongly involved in VDI/VDE-IT’s tasks as programme management agency for German ministries with a strong focus on topics in sustainable mobility as e.g. its integration into an electrified, shared and automated transport system, electrification of heavy duty transport, digitization of public transport systems and battery cell production. She also supports the BMBF Division 512 within the Japanese-German Research Cooperation on autonomous driving.
