SIP Symposium 2017
Event Outline
The Cross-ministerial Strategic Innovation Promotion Program (SIP) is a national project for science, technology, and innovation that is spearheaded by the Council for Science, Technology and Innovation. Its mission is to promote achievements in science, technology, and innovation by playing a leading role in management that goes beyond the framework of government ministries and traditional disciplines.
The SIP aims to generate science, technology, and innovation by promoting focused, end-to-end R&D that extends from fundamental research to practical application and commercialization. Its efforts are centered around eleven program directors who strive to resolve issues that have vital importance to the Japanese people, and who provide powerful leadership in addressing eleven key themes for Japan’s economic and industrial might.
The SIP Symposium 2017 began with a keynote speech by Mr. Hiroaki Nakanishi, Chairman of the Board and Representative Executive Officer, Hitachi, Ltd. Mr. Nakanishi’s speech was followed by presentations on results achieved in each of the SIP’s important themes, many of which will soon bear fruit for society, as the program enters its fourth year. The symposium also featured exhibits presented at booths.
